As it spent its life in one of the top ten driest places on earth, it has never rusted and has been dry stored in a barn most of its life. I imported and restored countless classic VW’s for 11 years in my former business (The Bus Station 2002-2013) and this is the nicest original Westfalia I have ever come across. I have also written for Volksworld and Volksworld Camper&Bus magazines for the past 6 years, including providing vehicle valuations and writing technical How-To features.Since arriving in the UK, this Westy has continued to be dry stored and has undergone a full preservation type restoration including the following:Running Gear All steering, suspension, brake components removed and either replaced or overhauled. Original brake calipers split and honed/rebuilt. Wheel bearings replaced. Tie rods, ball joints, drag link, steering column bearings and rubber coupler replaced. Steering box replaced with a used one in very good condition. New master cylinder, servo, wheel cylinders, brake shoes (rear), brake pads (front), Flexi hoses. All paperwork, receipts and original brochures will be supplied with the bus. We have spent upwards of £7,000 alone on parts and hundreds of labour hours – a full restoration, but without the usual welding, bodywork and respray. There is a lot more I could add, as I remember it – this has been a four-year preservation project; there is nothing that hasn’t been checked over, reconditioned, or renewed. The vehicle drives as new. If you’ve never driven a camper with a brake servo fitted, then you are in for a lovely surprise – the bus stops easily with minimal brake pressure – better than many modern cars. The camper has been photographed for Volksworld Camper & Bus Magazine and will be fully featured in the magazine in the next couple of months.Viewings are available – the camper is in a dry, secure storage unit – come and have a crawl underneath and marvel at this once in a lifetime bus. I’d call it a Unicorn! Here is a link to a lot more pictures on Google Photos:https://photos.app.goo.gl/hxsiMumK57Xf7yu52 Please note: If you click on the link, it will not work – You will need to copy the text and paste it into the URL bar to see the album. If you have any problems viewing the album, please message me and I will send you a link. Please don’t email and ask what my best price is – the advertised price is below what it has been independently valued at. If you wish to make a sensible offer in person, after viewing the bus, then we can talk about it, but please bear in mind the quality of this camper over anything else you will have seen advertised. You can never compare the value of a restored bus over an original one – a restored bus could be hiding some poor repairs, which could come back to haunt you in the future. With this one, what you see is what you get. We can supply pictures of the bus before renovation if needed to show the fantastic original body condition even before we had started to polish the paint.
