1995 LHD VW LT31 Westfalia Florida 4 Berth Campervan

….Despite putting it off as long as possible it is the sad day to sell my Florida. I purchased it in July 2014, already owning a different LT, when the opportunity arose to upgrade our camping to a whole new level of luxury! At the time of purchase the van needed various bits of work doing which I have pretty much comprehensively worked through over the years, to give what is now a great example of these vans. Work done has included, rust professionally cut and removed from all the normal LT areas – windscreen, fridge vents, seams, water inlet, and in the footwells by the previous owner / importer. Front doors have been swapped in this process rather than repairing around rusty quarterlights. With all this work the bottom half of the van has been stripped of its original westfalia decals and professionally repainted plain white with the stonechip paint line as per original. Engine wise this has the 2.4l turbo intercooled engine which I have had the cambelt, timing and servicing done since purchase by a firm in Poole whose owner is a font of LT knowledge! The MOT has just been carried out and the van serviced by them to ensure it is ready for sale. It has a 5 speed gearbox and it purrs along nicely although it will never win any drag races and hills were never a strong point when fully loaded! In the cab it features the original captains seats, with the drivers having been repadded by a local vehicle upholstery firm, power steering, ABS braking, electric windows, rev counter, radio, and speedo in KM/h. I will chuck in my sat nav that I drive with to ensure the speed limits are upheld or achieved.. Please note the van is Left Hand Drive. In the living area is what makes these vans so sought after… The extra high roof means there is a full width double bunk upstairs with twin adjustable seating downstairs that becomes a second double bed. The middle seats are on a sliding base which enable them to move to be orientated as forward facing, for driving, or flipped over to seat 4 people around the table. The rear seats have lap belts meaning that 6 people can travel safely. If required we can provide a child seat that is suitable for lapbelt fixing if you have kids to transport – we had 1 upfront in a conventional seat, and 1 on the rear seat. It has the original diesel night heater providing blown air heating, a pressurised hot water system using the onboard gas tank, onboard water and waste tanks, a twin burner cooker, a 3 way fridge (gas, 12v or 240v), double glazed rear opening windows, all original curtains and flyscreens, and to top it off a good sized shower with room for a porta potti to be stowed. Outside it has the original wind out awning, a huge top box, and a sherpa roof rack in addition to the standard rear rack. 240v hook up, water filling point, new stainless LPG gas cover (having cracked 2 in the past!), BBQ hook up hose included. As with normal Westfalias this conversion is amazing what they have packed in with enough cupboards to lose items for days on end!! This van has been my home for weeks on end during work at festivals, and it has meant I could survive in luxury! Unfortunately the barn it has lived in when not in use has been reclaimed for farm use and now, with less gigs this summer and the van not getting the use it should, it’s time to find a new loving home. Please feel free to get in touch to have a chat about it, I have a huge pile of paperwork from the works I have had done, and bits I have renovated myself. As with all old vehicles don’t expect perfection! But I have got it much closer over the years… It smokes on start up – but this soon clears, regular use would go along way to helping this. The LPG gas tank gauge has never functioned – it would appear the float in the tank needs a service, I may achieve this before sale – but I have always struggled to empty the tank with its frugal use!! The drivers footwell still has some signs of slight water ingress – a typical LT fault, and not unexpected! The blinds and fly screen in the rear nearside have some marking. Gear change is typical LT! A bit vague but soon adjusted too. I have a set of new bushes that should reduce this that I haven’t yet fitted. Van is situated in Salisbury, viewing is welcome and I can take you out for a drive if you wish. I will require a deposit of £500 on purchase with full balance by bank transfer prior to collection. More photos to be added now the sun is out!
