….Great condition Bay Window, it sleeps 4 adults, 2L fuel injection engine so will cruise happily at 70mph, good bodywork, gas stove, converted for UK campsite electric hook-ups. The van includes a recently reconditioned engine (2 new cylinder heads etc.). It’s a 2L air cooled fuel injection engine, so no problem with power/speed and starting. Plus I recently replaced the gear box. In general bodywork is in excellent condition as only been in UK for 5 years and I’ve kept the van in dry storage for the last three winters. The interior is all original Westfalia and in great condition…4 birth, 2 gas rings, sink & tap, cool box, sound system. ….Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 We are very sad to be selling our VW camper van Chad, a gorgeous Riviera conversion from Oregon, USA who has done just 113,000 miles in his 34 years. He’s been a trusty family companion for 2 years, but sadly we now need to pass him on to someone who can enjoy him as much as we have done. This is the proper classic camper van experience: no air con, no power steering, not even a fifth gear: just authentic old-fashioned driving, and then most of the comforts of home – and a lot of admiring stares from your fellow campers – when you get there! Chad was manufactured in 1978, making him one of the youngest ‘real’ (i.e. German-made) Bays around. Sleeping: double rock & roll bed downstairs and double bed in the poptop. Could sleep four adults if they were good friends, and definitely works for two adults and two kids for perfect family trips. The interior obviously has some wear and tear after 34 years, but retains all its original Riviera charm, like a lakeside lodge in the Rockies. Kitchenette: Twin hob with onboard LPG tank, ‘powered icebox’ running off the leisure battery, sink with battery-powered water supply, loads of storage cupboards, table for eating off (or playing cards when it’s raining). There’s also a small pop-up table for holding the cup of tea you brew as soon as you arrive! Seating: New leather-faced upholstery fitted in 2011. Three point belts on front seats and one back seat, lap belts on other back seat and rear-facing buddy seat (that’s five seats in total). Bodywork: Lived in north-west USA until a couple of years ago, hence the chassis is in excellent condition, as is the classic late-70s original paintwork (some wear and tear and rust chips on front). Pop-top is all intact, with mesh panels for summertime ventilation. Engine: 2 litre petrol engine converted to twin carburettors, new pistons and barrels in 2011. Other features: There is a camping loo built into the buddy seat with a waste tank under the van. We’ve not used it – hard to think when you might be that desperate – but it’s there. Also a handy storage box between the front seats with a matching leather cover. The mains hook-up is sadly for US voltage, but it would be a fairly simple DIY job to replace the hook-up and sockets with UK ones. Loads of storage space to take everything you could ever need for a camping trip, including an external luggage rack over the front seats. Includes: tax to 31/10/12, recent MOT (April 2012), converters for filling the LPG tank in the UK and on the Continent, JustKampers full van cover, unique bug screen on kitchen window, colour-coordinated VW spare wheel cover, period radio cassette (perfect for playing Eighties mix tapes) with adapter for playing music from your iPod, MP3 player or phone.

Pastel White with Westfalia Interior Powerful 1700cc Engine with Weber Conversion Empi Alloys MOT November 2012 Taxed Cool Mint Van, Drives Superb Early Viewing Essential This van came to me four years ago and has been in dry storage. The van originally started life as an airport passenger service vehicle in Sweden and when not in use was dry stored, which must have been a lot of it’s life as it does not seem to have been used much. It had a replacement battery and tyres over the last few months. To answer some of the questions that people have asked since it was listed: Reason for sale? I am about to move out of my business premises where it is stored, as I have nowhere else to dry store it, I decided to sell. Mileage? I cannot quote miles because I cannot prove them to be genuine, what I can tell you is that there is about 72000+ Km showing on what I think is the original clock. Like I say, I cannot guarantee the mileage on a 40 year old camper, but the way it drives and the general good condition, it would not surprise me if it were genuine.
