Volkswagen Type 2 Early Bay Crossover Low Miles

….For sale is my classic 1972 British registered right hand drive Volkswagen Type 2 converted into a camper can. I have had this vehicle since 2006 when I bought it as a present for my wife’s birthday. In 2014 the work was finally finished on the exterior and a new interior had been fitted ready for me to finish. It was late in the year so I put the Van in my garage ready for the spring to finish the work. New MOT for the new keeper and Road Tax till 01 Jun 2018 21,500 Miles Bodywork The Van has been completed stripped to the metal and all filler removed and redone. The Cab doors had to be disposed of as once the paint was removed it was obvious they had been letting water in and were rusting from the outside in. I sourced rust free doors from south africa to replace them. The sliding door has had rust removed and a new panel welded into the bottom which had rusted away. The bottom half of the Van has been painted in a 50’s Green finish and the top in Volkswagen Candy White. All seals have been replaced with new seals from VW heritage. There was a spare wheel on the front and this has been replaced with a Silver Volkswagen Logo, the grill has been replaced with chrome. The bumpers which were rusted and the towbar fitted to the vehicle have been removed and new Stainless Steel Bumpers have been fitted, again sourced from Volkswagen Heritage. The Van has several coats of the flat paint finish applied and it is easy to obtain a shine. There is an aluminum side step which will be supplied with the Van. I have fitted Porsche pepperpot Alloy wheels which have been sprayed in Volkswagen Candy white, again several coats. The Van had new tyres in 2010 and as it hasn’t gone anywhere these are still good as new. The exterior is now rust free and the paint finish is stunning. The windows have also been tinted from the B pillars backwards. Interior The seats which were tatty have been reupholstered in Vinyl by a local firm and now look brand new. The dash has been taken apart and sprayed the same colour as the rest of the van with the rear parts being candy white and the green being used to the front facing parts and the vents. Bamboo shelves have been installed and a Green fitted carpet has been used. The stereo system has speakers in the front and rear and is an alpine unit with a dock connector suitable for an ipod or iphone. A Scat shifter has been installed and a large rev counter. The van has an oil temp gauge and a Voltmeter installed under the dash to the right of the driver. It has a wooden steering wheel. The mileage on the clock is incorrect as when I bought the van the speedo had been disconnected. This is now corrected. The camping interior has been made from marine grade ply and has had a real wood veneer installed. There are a couple of areas which need the veneer installed which are along the edge of the table and along the edge of the seat covers. I was going to use a standard laminate edging in these areas due to the usage of the table to convert the central compartment into a bed. There is a cooker and sink which I have never used and a ZIG unit which is provided power by a leisure battery allowing power to the 3 pin electrical socket under the seat. The Van has external socket which can be hooked up to an electrical supply at a camp site. The rear of the Van in the boot area has a carpet lined wood. There are new cushions in a green tartan and new curtains to match, these are blackout type curtains. A new headlining has been installed. Engine & Mechanics The Van is powered by a reconditioned VEGE 1.6 Aircooled engine. In the last 2 weeks it has had the Carburettor rebuilt with new gaskets and a new battery has been fitted. The Van is now a runner. The Van has been lowered for a sportier look. Work Remaining NS Headlight – no holder so new holder required NSF & OSF Brake Calipers – both seized on NSF worse NSF Upper Ball Joint – rubber split and grease coming out Both track rod arms rubber perished Front Brake pads require replacing All brake pipes require replacing Brake Wheel Cylinders and Shoes on rear require replacing All Brakes need bleeding Crack on OSF floor and a few places that require welding Thanks for looking!
