VW camper t2 Bay 1972

….I’ve owned Janet the camper for nearly 3 years and have loved every moment but time for her to move on as she just isn’t getting used as much as she should. 1973, tax and MOT exempt (although she passed last week so do have 12 month certificate). Everything is there to go camping Engine1600cc with 4 speed manual gearbox. Engine was new 6 years ago and has only covered around 6k miles. Newly replaced Solex carb, plugs, leads, distributor, electronic ignition, cap, rotor, oil and exhaust. Spent around £600 on this and the engine has never run so well. Starts on the button, idles as it should when cold and when it’s warmed up, pulls really well and cruises at 60mph comfortably. InteriorLarge leather front seats (more like armchairs. Think they’re from a Range Rover) up frontSunroofThe headlining has been covered in pictures of 100’s of campers. I think its one of the best features inside the van. A couple of rips but nothing major and nothing some more pictures wouldn’t cover. Full width rock and roll bed in the rear2 x 3 point seatbelts in the back and a lap belt in the middle Custom built kitchen unit that slides out of the rear bench. This has a 2 ring gas hob and grill built in (although is still portable) and lots of storage. The top folds over as a table/serving/prep area.Single leg table which comfortably seats 42 Spot lightsLeisure battery runs the lights and amp AudioBluetooth/USB/CD Player2 x Vibe 6.5″ speakers in the front doors2 x Vibe 6″x9″ speakers in the rear under the bed1 x Infinity 12″ SubAll the above is powered by a 1000w PPI amp and is loud. Although turn it down a little and the quality is amazing WheelsStandard wheels with good tyres. Lost one of the chrome hubcaps last week but think I have a spare in the garage BodyworkGoing to try and be as honest as possible here. From a distance the bus looks great. Close up you can tell the previous restoration is starting to show signs of wear. There are a couple of rust bubbles appearing around the lower rear corners where the repair panels were joined and not sealed. Tailgate has a small patch that is bubbling through. Rear drivers side window is bubbling on the window seal. It doesn’t leak at all but it is bubbling up. The paint has come off on the lower passenger side sill. Metal work is good just the paint is flaking. Roof paint on the rear is cracked and coming off under the roof rack. A couple of chips in the paint. Most of the marks/bubbling is on the lower half and is very noticeable because it is white. If it was the other way round they wouldn’t stand out half as much but then it also wouldn’t look as cool!! Chrome work has rust (wing mirrors and hubcaps). Bumpers have a couple of bubbles of rust. These bits were there when I bought it 3 years ago and my intention was to sort them myself as they aren’t massive jobs (it doesn’t look like panels need replacing, just grind out the small bits of rot, reweld, tidy and paint). The reality was I don’t have the time to do these bits and didn’t want to take the bus off the road for any length of time. Using it was far more important than treating the small cosmetic issues. I’ve probably made it sound a whole lot worse than it is so anyone that is seriously looking I would suggest a viewing and see for yourself. I can also send more pictures of the affected areas if required. The doors are solid, the sliding door is solid, the gutters and roof are solid, the underneath is solid and most of the panels (with exception to the bits list above) are solid. Having just passed its MOT last week rest assured that it any of the above is purely cosmetic and won’t stop you getting in and driving away safely and more importantly looking cool as f*ck!! AccessoriesRoof Rack Awning that has a separate 2 man bedroom inside. Ideal for a family of 4 with the bed in the busThermo mats for the windowsFull winter coverFront leather cover (bra) in black and white chequeExternal 240v hook up cable Loads of spare parts (plugs, leads, fanbelt etc) I’m not planning on getting another camper so anything camper/camping related can go with the bus To summarise, any issues with the bodywork/paint doesn’t stop it doing what it does best. Please remember that this is a 45 year old bus and is not in show winning mint condition, if it was it would be £6k more expensive. What it is is a very reliable camper that’s ready to go and wants for nothing. These classics are only going up in price so is also a good investment. I recommend anyone that’s serious about purchasing this comes for a look and I can take you out for a test drive (happy for you to drive it if you can prove your insured to drive and it is the bus has fully comprehensive cover). £500 non refundable deposit required within 24 hours of the sale. Please don’t waste mine or your time if you have no intention of buying the bus.
