VW Early Bay Crew Cab Double Pick Up not splitscreen rare rat rod project

….Relisted due to a complete time waster. Well it’s time to admit defeat and realise that with 3 children, a busy work schedule, a house to refurbish and two crew cabs, I simply don’t have time for everything. I was hoping to get it ready for last years show season, then this years, but I probably won’t even make next years. So, I’m putting it up for sale. Hopefully someone can see the potential in the bus and see it through to the end.So, it’s a 1970 VW Early Bay Crew Cab in Velvet Green. Last on the road in 2013 and Imported from Paraguay a couple of years ago and purchased by myself from the importer. It’s registered on the Nova system and all duties etc were paid before I purchased the bus. I’ll try and list out what I can but I’ll probably miss loads. Overall the bus is pretty solid but this is a 47 year old work horse. The doors are all rust free, roof is excellent, window apertures are clean (front windscreen might need some small sections once the seal is removed), rear load bed is good but has had some patches. Drop gates are solid if a little battered. Rear gate needs a repair around the hinge. Cab floor has been patched in the past but is solid. Rear floor looks good. but may need some small repairs. Front panel is solid with the exception of the bottom but this has been cut back to the chassis rails and is ready to weld on (I might get this done as I have the panels). The main chassis rails are solid and rust free. It will need inner and outer sills and jacking points and the odd patch here and there. It all depends on the level of finish you want. I think about a week’s work should see the welding done. I’ve bought most metal with the exception of the outer sills as I wasn’t sure how much to replace. Some of the work completed so far:Porsche 944 front discs mounted on French Slammer dropped spindlesComplete new rear drum brakes – backing plates, internals and CSP Porsche pattern rear drumsPorsche D90 16” alloys with new load rated tyres all round.
