VW T25 Westfalia Campervan, 1.6 turbo diesel

….For sale is our 1987 VW T25 Westfalia van. It has the 1.6 turbo diesel (JX) engine, which had a new cylinder head in Dec 2017. The Cam belt was also changed at the same time. We have owned the van for the last five years, and it has always been reliable. It has been used daily, as well as for trips away, and does around 35 mpg. The engine runs really well. We had the starter motor replaced around three years ago, and the water pump changed the year before last. Starts well in all weathers. There is a slight oil leak around the sump plug. This has come and gone over the last few years, and has never been an issue for us. MOT until June 2019. Odometer reading is currently 80,000 km. It only goes up to 99,999 km, so may well be on its way round again. There is a full width rock and roll bed, with seat belts and a new rear cushion. The pop top sleeps two at a squeeze, and the canvas was replaced when we bought the van. There is also a rear facing “buddy seat” with lap belt. Two fixed captains chairs in the front, and a Pioneer head unit for iPod/mp3 playback. Electric hook up is basic, with an RCD supplying the van’s socket. There is a 12V/240V mini fridge, and a two burner gas hob. We have never really used this, so can’t be sure it works properly. Regulator and gas bottle are included. There is also a small sink and tap with a water pump. Leisure battery under the driver’s seat is charged by the alternator. The van is fitted with an Erberspacher heater which appears to work, but again, we have not ever used it and it is old so I guess it would need checking first. Externally, the body work is becoming tatty in places, particularly around the rear wheel arches and left side. I have tried to show this in the photos, and can send more if needed. It had a replacement VW factory fitted engine while still in Germany in the mid 1990s, which is a little smoky on start up, but clears after a few hundred yards and runs nicely. In April did a trip up to NW Scotland – over 700 miles in four days, including lots of stationary/slow moving traffic – with no problems at all. Overall, the van is ready to go for the summer. Please come to have a look if you’re interested, and feel free to ask any questions. Bank transfer preferred for payment, with funds to clear before collection.
